Elements to Consider

Injectable fillers are incredibly versatile and can be used to treat a variety of areas of the face with virtually no downtime and no incisions. Dr. Chung offers numerous fillers to address multiple areas of concern. These include the JUVÉDERM family of products, the Restylane line, and BELOTERO BALANCE®. These products use biocompatible hyaluronic acid to safely add volume and lift beneath the skin. The effect is smoother skin, with visible improvement in facial lines and contours.

If you're bothered by any of the following, a treatment with fillers may be appropriate for you:

• Nasolabial folds, which run from the nose to the corners of the mouth
• Marionette lines, which run downward from the corners of the mouth
• Fine lip lines
• Lost volume in the cheeks
• Thin or asymmetrical lips

Although today's fillers are incredibly adept at reducing the look of lines and wrinkles, these products don't provide a perfect alternative to surgical intervention, such as facelift. If your symptoms are significant, or if you're in search of results that last for years, you may be a better candidate for surgery. Which Filler Is Right for You?

Soft-tissue fillers share many similarities, but they also provide unique benefits. It's important to choose a plastic surgeon who understands when each product is best for addressing your specific concerns. Dr. Chung uses these hyaluronic acid-based (HA) fillers:

JUVÉDERM – The JUVÉDERM products are the softest of the HA fillers. JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus XC is ideal for smoothing lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, such as nasolabial folds and smile lines. JUVÉDERM Ultra XC is used for lip augmentation, while JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is the first filler approved by the FDA specifically to restore volume to the cheek areas.

Restylane – Restylane is an excellent choice for adding volume to the upper eyelids and filing in the hollowed out areas that can develop below the eyes. Restylane Lyft® is a denser version of the product; it is injected deeper into the skin.

BELOTERO BALANCE – This is a versatile filler with unique properties that adapt to the quality of a patient's skin, producing results that are soft and smooth. It can be used for deeper treatment areas, such as the nasolabial folds, but it's also effective in the treatment of the delicate, fine lines that develop just above the lips.

Your Treatment

Your treatment with injectable fillers is a comfortable outpatient procedure that can be completed in a matter of minutes. During your appointment, Dr. Chung first cleanses your treatment area to remove dirt, oil, or makeup. He then makes a series of quick injections in your treatment areas, each of which last for only a moment and may pinch or sting slightly. He evaluates his work for symmetry and carefully fine-tunes your contours. In most cases, you can anticipate being in our office for under an hour.

Recuperation and Long-Term Results

Injectable fillers don't require any sort of measurable recuperation period. You may return to your regular activities as soon as your appointment is over. You may resume exercise and vigorous activities the very next day. Some redness or even minor bruising is normal, and goes away in a matter of days. You should not apply pressure to the area until the next day.

Although the results of injectable fillers are temporary, the duration of your own results can vary depending on the products you choose and the areas you have treated. During your consultation, Dr. Chung can give you a more specific idea of exactly what you can anticipate from your results.
